Deri holds meeting with Ukrainian representatives regarding Uman Rosh Hashanah 2021

Today (Monday), Interior Minister Aryeh Deri met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Alexei Razinkov. They discussed a variety of issues – political relations between Ukraine and Israel, the fight against Corona and most importantly the entry of Israeli citizens into Ukraine for Uman Rosh Hashanah – with no restrictions.

Rav Shalom Arush was present at this meeting as well as Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yavan Kornichuk, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Yarmak, Deputy Chairman of the Office of the President Igor Zubkawa, and Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

During the meeting, Minister Deri discussed the growing rate of positive cases in Ukraine and ways to help deal with the Coronavirus.

Minister Deri also raised the plight of about 1,000 Chassidim who are now forbidden to come to Uman because they tried to enter Ukraine last year without the approval of the Ukrainian authorities. The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine responded to Minister Deri’s request to invite the Commissioner for Borders to a meeting in Israel in order to lift the ban on entry and allow those Chassidim to enter the country.
