Mayor of Uman: Against Rosh Hashanah, Ukrainian Government: Uman Rosh Hashanah 2020 will happen

One may have seen the recent Facebook poll that the Mayor of Uman posted on his Facebook page about Uman Rosh Hashanah 2020. It polled the residents of Uman asking if they should accept the Breslov chassidim into Uman this year during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. The Mayor fears that the Chassidim will bring the virus to the city (currently there are only a few cases in Uman) and is calling for the annual kibbutz to be cancelled.

Yesterday the poll finished and the Mayor of Uman posted a video from outside the Tziyon of Rabbeinu z”l stating that the results were in and the residents of Uman favor the decision to not let the chassidim in this year. However Ukrainian government officials are aware of the situation in Uman and have said that there will be a kibbutz this year with new strict restrictions and guidelines. These will be set by the Ukrainian government in partnership with the Israeli government. We will update accordingly. Please note that all current travel restrictions are still in place.
