The Breslov Research Institute has released a beautiful English translation of the sefer כוכבי אור. Kokhavey Ohr is a compilation of a few short works written by R. Avraham Chazzan (also known as Rav Avraham Bar Nachman), one of the leading Breslov Chassidim of his day. This book contains many stories about Rebbe Nachman, Reb Noson and their students that R. Avraham Chazzan heard himself from reliable sources and that he believed to be genuine.

The book consists of four sections:

1. Anshei Moharan, stories about Rebbe Nachman and his students.
2. Emet V’Emunah, teachings on the greatness of faith.
3. Chokhmah U’Binah, hints and secrets regarding Rebbe Nachman’s greatness.
4. Sasson V’Simchah, teachings and prayers on the importance of happiness.

To this, the extraordinary Breslov Chassid, R. Shmuel Horowitz, added another four sections:

1. Sippurim Niflaim, stories about Rebbe Nachman and Breslov Chassidim.
2. Ma’asiot U’Meshalim, stories and parables.
3. Sichot V’Sippurim, teachings.
4. Avaneha Barzel, stories about Rebbe Nachman and his followers.

We have added the stories from Tovot Zikhronot, by R. Avraham Sternhartz, which sheds light upon some of Rebbe Nachman’s teachings and several stories of the many obstacles that Reb Noson endured.
