In the last few years, Ukraine has introduced a tourist tax (like many other countries in the world) for visitors to the country and to Uman for Rosh Hashanah. Each municipality can decide how much the tourist tax can be. For Rosh Hashanah 2022, the Uman Municipality closed all the entrances to the Jewish area in Uman and everyone had to pass through one area to pay the tourist tax. This caused people to have wait for hours in long lines after long journeys from surrounding countries.
After negotiations between Ichud Breslov and relevant officials in Uman, it was agreed that whoever pays the tourist tax online in advance will be able to enter the Jewish area in Uman from all entrances. The tourist tax will also be cheaper online – 27 US dollars. Those arriving in Uman who did not pay the tourist tax in advance will be directed to the area down by the lake and will have to pay 40 US dollars.
Due to the security issues with the municipality’s website and accepting Israeli credit cards, Ichud Breslov has launched a website where you can easily pay online and you will receive a payment confirmation page with a barcode that will be scanned when entering Uman.
