In the last few days, renovations of the Tzion of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov have begun in Uman. A dedicated team of professional Breslov workers traveled to Ukraine in partnership with the Ichud Breslov in Uman to undertake this beautiful project. As was reported here, a massive renovation of the full Tzion complex was supposed to being shortly after last Rosh Hashanah however there have been many delays:
The project has encountered bureaucratic delays, as the site is designated as a national heritage location, requiring special approvals for any modifications. Some of the engineering studies required for these approvals are difficult—or even impossible—to conduct in the conventional manner, as they involve excavation within the cemetery grounds. Creative solutions are therefore being sought to ensure that the honor and integrity of the ancient burial site remain completely protected.
In light of these unforeseen delays, the Ichud Breslov in Uman together with a dedicated group of Breslov construction workers and volunteers who generously offered their time and labor for the honor of Rebbe Nachman’s resting place, has initiated a temporary renewal and beautification project at the site in preparation for the approaching Rosh Hashanah. In recent days, volunteers have already begun upgrading and enhancing the outer facade of the Tzion building.
It should be emphasized that these renovations are intended as a temporary solution that will significantly enhance conditions for the many Breslov Chassidim expected this Rosh Hashanah, until all approvals for the major renovation project are finalized.
