Security Updates from Uman

Thousands of Breslov Chassidim have already arrived in Uman for Rosh Hashanah and thousands more are currently on the way. Due to the war in Ukraine there are a number of new rules in Uman for the Rosh Hashanah gathering:

Entrance to the Jewish area of Uman is only from the street down by the Lake (down the hill from the Tzion). If you arrive at Pushkina street they will send you there. They are checking every suitcase of every person. All alcohol is being confiscated. You can only bring one carton of cigarettes in.

There is a tourist tax that you must pay when you arrive in Uman. There are Kiosks set up at the arrival point to pay $35 and you will receive a receipt that you paid and you must carry it with you at all times with your passport. They are constantly checking. Curfew from 11 pm to 5 am is still in effect. One can remain in the Tzion of Rabbeinu the whole night if they choose to. Metal detectors were set up at the Tzion yesterday as well.

Please leave yourself enough time when traveling as some borders are taking hours to cross. Do not take pictures of any Army or Police or any Border Crossings.
