Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that the authorities are considering the introduction of a lockdown “as a plan B” if the Coronavirus situation in the country does not improve after the weekend quarantines that are happening now.
There is currently a lockdown during the weekends in Ukraine in certain areas and this weekend quarantine will continue until after next week according to reports. After that, the gov’t will evaluate the situation and see if “Plan B” will be introduced. The Prime Minister has stressed that they are working to lower the numbers in any way possible without introducing a full lockdown.
14,580 new active COVID-19 cases had been confirmed across the country in the past 24 hours as of November 21, 2020.
There dates that are being talked about are:
Worst case scenario: full lockdown for several weeks starting sometime between December 10th and the 15th
Best case scenario: full lockdown for several weeks starting between December 20th and the 25th
If there is a full lockdown then flights to and from Ukraine for Shabbos Chanukah may be affected.
